The present paper focuses on connectedness and total disconnectedness of generalized inverse limits on intervals induced by one bonding function, whose graph is an arc, and which is not necessarily surjective. It is proved that if the bonding function has connected graph (not necessarily an arc), then the inverse limit contains either one point or infinitely many points. Furthermore, if the bonding function is surjective and its graph is an arc, then the inverse limit is not totally disconnected. Actually, a more general result is obtained: if for each \(i\), \(f_i\) is surjective upper semicontinuous function with connected graph, then the corresponding generalized inverse limit is never totally disconnected. Some examples of inverse limits (with nonsurjective bonding function) that are totally disconnected are also presented.
