Eisenbud, Popescu and Walter [\textit{D. Eisenbud} et al., Duke Math. J. 107, No. 3, 427--467 (2001; Zbl 1069.14053)] have constructed special sextic hyperspaces in \(\mathbb P^5\), \textit{EPW-sextics}, as Lagrangian degeneracy loci. Every EPW-sextic is equipped with a double cover called a \textit{double EPW-sextic}. They form a locally versal family of polarized hyperkähler fourfolds. The author studies the period map for double EPW-sextics. Double EPW-sextics are parametrized by Lagrangian subspaces of \(\bigwedge^3 V\), where \(V\) is a 6-dimensional complex vector space. The author proves that Lagrangians in the indeterminacy locus of the period map contain a special decomposable 3-vector. Moreover, the restriction of the period map to the open subset \(\mathfrak{M} \setminus \mathfrak{N}\), parametrizing double EPW-sextics which are either smooth or have isolated singular points with projectivized tangent cone isomorphic to the incidence variety in \(\mathbb P^2 \times (\mathbb P^2)^\vee\), is an open embedding.
