The author positively answers a problem posed by \textit{Z. Moszner} [Ann. Univ. Paedagog. Crac., Stud. Math. 122(11), 69--94 (2012; Zbl 1292.39027)] concerning the superstability of the Cauchy functional equation with squares: \[ f(x+y)^2=(f(x)+f(y))^2. \] Assume that \((S,+)\) is an abelian semigroup and \((A,\|\cdot\|)\) a finite-dimensional normed algebra without divisors of zero. It is proved that if \(f: S\to A\) satisfies, with some \(\varepsilon\geq 0\), the inequality \[ \|f(x+y)^2-(f(x)+f(y))^2\|\leq\varepsilon,\qquad x,y\in S, \] then \(f\) is either bounded or additive.
