A \(6\)-dimensional manifold \(N\) admits a \({\mathrm{SU}}(3)\)-structure if the structure group of the frame bundle can be reduced from \({\mathrm{GL}}(6)\) to \({\mathrm{SU}}(3)\). In such a case, there exists an natural almost Hermitian structure \((h,J,\omega)\) and a \((3,0)\)-form \(\Psi\) of constant length. Its real and imaginary parts \(\psi_{+}\) and \(\psi_{-}\) satisfy compatibility conditions with the almost Hermitian structure and the normalization condition. The intrinsic torsion of the \({\mathrm{SU}}(3)\)-structure lies in the \(42\)-dimensional space which decomposes into \({\mathrm{SU}}(3)\)-irreducible summands which are denoted \[ {\mathcal{W}}_1^{+} \oplus {\mathcal{W}}_1^{-} \oplus {\mathcal{W}}_2^{+} \oplus {\mathcal{W}}_2^{-} \oplus {\mathcal{W}}_3 \oplus {\mathcal{W}}_4 \oplus {\mathcal{W}}_5. \] The intrinsic torsion vanishes when all the forms \(\omega\), \(\psi_{+}\) and \(\psi_{-}\) are closed and in this case the metric \(h\) is Ricci-flat. When the forms \(\psi_{+}\) and \(\omega^2=\omega\wedge\omega\) are closed, the torsion lies in the subspace \({\mathcal{W}}_1^{-} \oplus {\mathcal{W}}_2^{-} \oplus {\mathcal{W}}_3\) and the \({\mathrm{SU}}(3)\)-structure is called half-flat. These structures were studied in several previous works by other authors. The special cases of the half-flat structures are: nearly Kähler (\({\mathcal{W}}_1^{-}\)), double or co-coupled (\({\mathcal{W}}_1^{-}\oplus {\mathcal{W}}_3\)), coupled (\({\mathcal{W}}_1^{-}\oplus {\mathcal{W}}_2^{-}\)). The metric \(h\) induced by the nearly Kähler structure is always Einstein. There exist examples of other half-flat structures inducing an Einstein metric, however, the coupled case was not studied. In many previous works by other authors, various related structures were also studied. In particular, left-invariant half-flat structures on \(S^3\times S^3\) were described with examples inducing Einstein metrics. One of them is a double structure and the other is nearly Kähler. However, these are the only known left-invariant Einstein metrics on \(S^3\times S^3\). In the present paper, it is shown that there exist half-flat (non-coupled and non-double) structures inducing these metrics and there are no coupled structures inducing these metrics. On the other hand, noncompact examples are solvmanifolds, which admit unique left-invariant Einstein metric. In the present paper, it is shown that there are no coupled structures inducing Einstein metrics on solvmanifolds and in more generality on \(6\)-dimensional homogeneous Einstein manifolds of nonpositive sectional curvature.
