Two closed algebraic sub-varieties \(V_{1}\) and \(V_{2}\) of the complex affine \(n\)-space \(\mathbb{A}^{n}\) as said to be \textit{equivalent} if there exists an algebraic automorphism of \(\mathbb{A}^{n}\) which maps \(V_{1}\) isomorphically onto \(V_{2}\). They are said to be \textit{stably equivalent} if their cylinders \(V_{1}\times\mathbb{A}^{m}\) and \(V_{2}\times\mathbb{A}^{m}\) are equivalent when considered as closed sub-varieties in \(\mathbb{A}^{n+m}\) for some \(m\geq1\). The stable equivalence problem asks if two stably equivalent hypersurfaces in \(\mathbb{A}^{n}\) are in fact equivalent. The answer is known to be positive for curves [\textit{L. Makar-Limanov} et al., Comment. Math. Helv. 79, No. 2, 341--349 (2004; Zbl 1063.14077)] and for non \(\mathbb{A}^{1}\)-uniruled varieties [\textit{R. Dryło}, Ann. Pol. Math. 87, 93--98 (2005; Zbl 1090.14019)]. In the article under review, the author constructs for every \(d\geq2\) families of explicit hypersurfaces \(H\subset\mathbb{A}^{d+1}\) whose cylinders \(H\times\mathbb{A}^{1}\) are all equivalent in \(\mathbb{A}^{d+2}\) but which are pairwise non equivalent by an automorphism of \(\mathbb{A}^{d+1}\).
