Binomial regular sequences and free sums (Q2352384)

In this paper, the author provides a new algebraic proof of several recent results on Ehrhart series of free sums of rational polytopes. His methods are based on the structural results on affine monoids and corresponding algebras and their applications to Ehrhart and Hilbert series. The author characterizes when a binomial regular sequence generates a prime ideal or even normality is preserved for the residue class ring.
