In this paper some preliminary results on rearrangments and the definition of some Lorentz-Zygmund spaces are recalled. Some model radial problems satisfying ellipticity, monotonicity and growth assumptions are considered. These examples shed lights on the sharpness of the existence results obtained in the paper. The authors prove the main pointwise estimates for bounded solutions to approximated model problems related to second order quasilinear elliptic equations in divergence form, and prove the existence results. The method used in order to obtain the described properties is based on the fact that, using also symmetrization techniques, it is possible to obtain sharp a priori estimates for bounded solutions to approximated problems. These estimates are obtained under sharp smallest assumption. The use of the estimates on the approximate solution and on its gradient allows to pass to the limit.
