Let \(\mathcal{A}\) be a triangular algebra over a commutative ring \(R\). In this interesting short note, the author mainly studies \(f\)-derivations \(d: \mathcal{A}\rightarrow \mathcal{A}\), i.e., linear mappings acting like derivations on a fixed multilinear polynomial \(f\) with coefficients from \(R\). He shows that every \(f\)-derivation \(d\) of \(\mathcal{A}\), where the sum of the coefficients of \(f\) is not zero, is a derivation.
