Bounded cohomology is a functional-analytic version of ordinary group cohomology, defined in terms of cocycles that are bounded with respect to the \(l^1\)-norm on the bar complex. In this article the author provides examples of groups with bounded-cohomological dimension equal to 0 and basic constructions that lead to groups with infinite bounded cohomological dimension. In particular it is shown that every group embeds functorially into an acyclic group with trivial bounded cohomology. Here the bounded cohomological dimension is defined in terms of bounded cohomology with trivial coefficients.
