Exponential splines are a generalization of (piecewise) polynomial splines that correspond to linear differential operators of arbitrary order, constant coefficients and, in the case of this article, with a characteristic polynomial having distinct real zeros. Using spaces spanned by these exponential splines, restricted to equally spaced spline knots, the authors develop analogues of scaling relations between the spaces (Theorem 1, to be compared to the classical scaling relation (0.4)) and thereby construct wavelets from the mentioned spaces (Theorem 2). This construction leads to a multiresolution analysis too.
