Differential graded categories were considered for the first time by \textit{G. M. Kelly} [Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 61, 847--854 (1965; Zbl 0146.25106)]. Covers, and graded variants of this concept, have been investigated in various derived contexts, for instance for the derived categories of modules over (commutative and non-commutative) algebras, derived categories of coherent sheaves in algebraic geometry, as well as stable module categories in representation theory. See, for instance, \textit{W. Lowen} and \textit{M. van den Bergh} [Adv. Math. 198, No. 1, 172--221 (2005; Zbl 1095.13013)], \textit{L. L. Avramov} and \textit{S. B. Iyengar} [Ill. J. Math. 51, No. 1, 1--20 (2007; Zbl 1121.13014)] and \textit{H. Krause} and \textit{Y. Ye} [Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 54, No. 2, 443--466 (2011; Zbl 1228.18009)]. The purpose of this paper is to give the relationship between the centers of these derived categories on the one hand and the derived version of the center in the form of Hochschild cohomology on the other. Also, this paper contains examples from algebras, algebraic geometry, and algebraic topology respectively, to illustrate the complexity of the situation.
