To compare two recollements of triangulated categories, \textit{A. A. Beilinson} et al. [Astérisque 100, 172 p. (1982; Zbl 0536.14011)], \textit{B. J. Parshall} and \textit{L. L. Scott} [in: Algebra, Proc. Workshop, Ottawa/Can. and Moosonee/Can. 1987, Math. Lect. Note Ser., Expo. Math., CRAF, Carleton Univ. 3, 105 p. (1988; Zbl 0711.18002)] introduced a comparison of recollements. Let \((F',F,F'')\) be a comparison of left recollements of triangulated categories such that \(F'\) and \(F''\) are equivalences. The authors give a sufficient and necessary condition such that \((F',F,F'')\) is an equivalence of left recollements. A class of examples, showing that there really exists a comparison \((F',F,F'')\) of left recollements of triangulated categories such that \(F'\) and \(F''\) are equivalences but \(F\) is not an equivalence is constructed. Using homotpy categories of splitting torsion pairs, the authors provide a class of examples of left recollements which cannot be extended to recollements.
