The author perturbs a linear Schrödinger equation with Lamé potential in one space dimension with a small positive or negative potential. The perturbed operator has one or more eigenvalues, at most one in each spectral gap. A nonlinear term is then added and the stability of standing wave solutions to the resulting evolutionary nonlinear Schrödinger equation is carefully studied. The methods adopted are linear stability theory and improved dispersive estimates for the operator in a distorted Fourier basis.
