Let \(p\) be a prime, and let \(N\) be a normal subgroup of a \(p\)-solvable finite group \(G\). Moreover, let \(b\) be a \(p\)-block of \(N\) with stabilizer \(T\) in \(G\), let \(B\) be a \(p\)-block of \(G\) covering \(b\), let \(D\) be a defect group of the Fong correspondent of \(B\) in \(T\) (so that \(D\) is also a defect group of \(B\)), and let \(\widehat B\) be the Brauer correspondent of \(B\) in \(NN_G(D)\). The author shows that \(|\text{IBr}^\circ(B|\varphi)|=|\bigcup_{t\in T}\text{IBr}^\circ(\widehat B|\varphi^t)|\) for any \(\varphi\in\text{IBr}(b)\); here \(\text{IBr}^\circ(B|\varphi)\) denotes the set of all irreducible Brauer characters of height \(0\) in \(B\) lying over \(\varphi\). This generalizes a result of \textit{T. Okuyama} [Hokkaido Math. J. 10, 299-318 (1981; Zbl 0488.20013)].
