This paper extends the previous reports and provides the detailed study of the quantum dynamics for a chaotic system. The authors present numerical and analytical results concerning energy spreading and survival probability for two quantum oscillators with nonlinear coupling. They use an experimentally relevant scenario of ``driving reversal'' in which the sign of the time-dependent perturbation is changed. The main goal is to test various approaches like linear response or random matrix theory for different regimes characterized by the magnitude of the perturbation. In particular, the invalidity of the random matrix theory for the most cases beyond the weak perturbation regime is shown.
