Let \(F\) be a perfect field of characteristic \(p>0\), and let \(A\) be a finite-dimensional \(F\)-algebra, with center \(Z(A)\) and commutator subspace \(K(A)=[A,A]\). For each non-negative integer \(n\), \(T_n(A):=\{x\in A:x^{p^n}\in K(A)\}\) is a \(Z(A)\)-submodule of \(A\). Moreover, if \(A\) is symmetric then the orthogonal space \(T_n(A)^\perp\) is an ideal of \(Z(A)\). These ideals were introduced by the reviewer; here they are called generalized Reynolds ideals. The classical Reynolds ideal (where \(A\) is the group algebra of a finite group \(G\)) is the intersection of all these ideals. Recently, \textit{A. Zimmermann} [Math. Proc. R. Ir. Acad. 107A, No. 1, 1-9 (2007; Zbl 1131.16003)] showed that the generalized Reynolds ideals are derived invariants of a symmetric algebra. In the present paper, the authors consider a finite-dimensional \(F\)-algebra \(\Lambda\) which is not necessarily symmetric. They form its trivial extension algebra \(\mathbf T(\Lambda)\), an extension of \(\Lambda\) by the \(\Lambda\)-bimodule \(\Lambda^*=\Hom_F(\Lambda,F)\). Then \(\mathbf T(\Lambda)\) is a symmetric \(F\)-algebra. Since derived equivalent \(F\)-algebras are known to have derived equivalent trivial extension algebras, the generalized Reynolds ideals of \(\mathbf T(\Lambda)\) lead to new derived invariants of \(\Lambda\).
