On the recursive sequence \(y_{n+1} = \frac {\alpha+y_{n-1}}{\beta+y_{n}} + \frac {y_{n-1}}{y_{n}}\) (Q2371415)

The authors study the difference equation \[ y_{n+1}=(\alpha+y_{n-1})/(\beta+y_n) +y_{n-1}/y_n, \;n=0,1,2,\dots, \] where \(\alpha,\beta\in (0,\infty),\, \alpha\not=\beta,\, \beta\not=2\), and the initial values \(y_{-1}, y_0\) are positive numbers. Results are obtained on the global stability of the equilibrium, the boundedness of solutions, and the existence of periodic solutions.
