The authors introduce new orthonormal dilation and translation operations on matices and iterate these processes in an appropriate way to obtain orthonormal \(m \times m\) matrices \(H(m)\) which are the usual Haar matrices for \(m = 2^n\). They examine the Haar coefficients of the indicator sequence of Cantor-type languages and consider Haar-Riesz products associated with their Haar matrices \(H(m)\). They give a sufficient condition on finite data or step functions to be written as a Riesz-type product in terms of the rows of \(H(m)\). This leads to an approximation of continuous measures by Ries-type products (in the weak\(^*\)-topology).
