The authors prove that a number belongs to \(\mathbb Q(\alpha)\) (\(\alpha\) being an algebraic conjugate of a Pisot number \(\beta\)) if and only if its \(\alpha\)-adic expansion is periodic from some point on: they use a result of \textit{A. Bertrand} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. A 285, 419--421 (1977; Zbl 0362.10040)], see also the paper of \textit{K. Schmidt} [Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 12, 269--278 (1980; Zbl 0494.10040)]. They also give algorithms to compute \(\alpha\)-adic expansion of elements in \(\mathbb Z[\alpha^{-1}]\) when \(\beta\) satisfies the finiteness property (i.e., \(\mathbb Z[\beta^{-1}]\) is equal to the set of real numbers with finite \(\beta\)-expansion). Please note that reference [7] appeared: \textit{V. Berthé} and \textit{A. Siegel} [J. Number Theory 127, No. 2, 153--172 (2007; Zbl 1197.11139)].
