The author generalizes the notion of a Koszul algebra to that of an \((a,b,c)\)-Koszul algebra. Similarly to Koszul algebras, \((a,b,c)\)-Koszul algebras are defined by prescribing a certain behavior for graded projective resolutions of simple modules. The generalization proposed in this paper includes some Artin-Schelter regular algebras of global dimension five as examples. The author proposes some criteria to determine whether a given algebra is \((a,b,c)\)-Koszul and describes some properties of the Yoneda extension algebra of an \((a,b,c)\)-Koszul algebra. Finally, the author also generalizes the notion of Koszul modules to that of \((a,b,c)\)-Koszul modules and describes basic properties of the latter.
