From the abstract: ``For linear systems which depend almost periodically on time, the Favard separation condition is shown to be equivalent to the following dimensional fact: all the systems in the hull have the same number of independent bounded solutions.'' Here, the Favard separation condition requires that, for all the systems in the hull, every nontrivial bounded solution is separated from zero. The author proves the equivalence by showing that the aforementioned condition on the bounded solutions implies the existence of a uniform upper bound on all bounded trajectories for all systems in the hull. In a second step, it is shown that the uniform upper bound gives a uniform lower bound, thus separation from zero. This is sufficient, as the author derives from a comprehensive literature review. However, the author also provides a short proof for the inverse implication. Various examples illustrate the concepts and the optimality of the assumptions.
