Diffusive limit for a quantum linear Boltzmann dynamics (Q2377326)

The author studies the diffusive behavior for a quantum test particle interacting with a dilute background gas. Under the assumption that the gas particle scattering occurs through a hard-sphere interaction, and the test particle dynamics is governed by a quantum linear Boltzmann equation, he results in a reduced model. For the reduced model, he shows that the state of the particle can be represented by a density matrix that evolves according to a translation-covariant Lindblad equation. Furthermore, he proves that the particle's position distribution converges asymptotically to a Gaussian under diffusive rescaling.
