Let \(X_1\) and \(X_2\) be smooth curves defined over a number field \(K\). The author proves an analogue of Dyson's theorem for the product \(X_1\times X_2\). In the case that both curves are the projective line the result recovers the classical Dyson theorem. The general result is used to give a new proof of Siegel's theorem on integer points on hyperbolic curves. This proof is self-contained, essentially elementary, and avoids relying on Roths' theorem, the Mordell-Weil theorem, and Schmidt's subspace theorem. The paper discusses the possibility that it may lead to effective results.
