If \(N\geq 1\) is squarefree and \(k\geq 2\) is even, for any Dirichlet character \(\chi\) modulo \(N\) such that \(\chi(-1)=(-1)^k\), we note \(H_k^*(\chi,N)\) the set of primitive forms of weight \(k\) on \(\Gamma_0(N)\). For \(f\in H_k^*(\chi,N)\), let \[ \| f\|_{\mathrm{sup}}=\sup_{(x,y)\in\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}^{+*}}y^{k/2}| f(x+iy)| \] and \[ \| f\|_2=\sqrt{\int_{\Gamma_0(N)\backslash\mathbb{H}}y^k| f(x+iy)|^2\,\frac{dxdy}{y^2}} \] where \(\mathbb{H}\) is the Poincaré upper-half plane. The author shows that there exists a function \(\varepsilon\) with limit \(0\) at infinity such that \[ \max_{f\in H_k^*(\chi,N)}\frac{\| f\|_{\mathrm{sup}}}{\| f\|_2}\geq N^{-1/2}\exp\left(\left[\dfrac{1}{2}+\varepsilon(N)\right]\sqrt{\frac{\log N}{\log\log N}}\right) \] for any squarefree integer \(N\geq 1\), provided one of the following conditions on the Dirichlet \(L\)-function \(L(s,\chi)\) is satisfied. 1) The function \(L(s,\chi)\) has no Siegel zero and the conductor \(N^*\) of \(\chi\) satisfies \(N^*\leq\exp(c\sqrt{\log\log N})\) for some absolute constant \(c>0\). 2) The function \(L(s,\chi)\) has a Siegel zero and the conductor \(N^*\) of \(\chi\) satisfies \(N^*\leq c(\varepsilon)(\log\log N)^{1/\varepsilon}\) for any \(\varepsilon>\) and some \(c(\varepsilon)>0\) . 3) The Riemann hypothesis holds for \(L(s,\chi)\). The result is a consequence of the lower bound \[ | L(1/2,f)|\geq \exp\left(\left[\dfrac{1}{2}+\varepsilon(N)\right]\sqrt{\frac{\log N}{\log\log N}}\right). \]
