The complex \(n\times n\) matrix pairs \(\{(A_p, B_p)\}\), \(p= 1,\dots,P\), are called periodic regular if a certain determinant of order \(np\) involving the matrices \(A_p\), \(B_p\) and the complex parameters \(\alpha_p\), \(\beta_p\), \(p= 1,\dots,P\) is not identically zero. The author defines the periodic Schur decomposition of periodic regular matrix pairs, which generalizes the generalized Schur decomposition of a regular pair \((UTP^*, URV^*)\), where \(U\), \(V\) are unitary matrices and \(T\), \(R\) are upper triangular matrices. In this paper the author derives perturbation bounds for the periodic Schur factors \(U_p\), \(V_p\), \(T_p\), \(R_p\) of periodic regular matrix pairs with distinct eigenvalues, generalizing the results of \textit{J. G. Sun} [SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Appl. 16, No. 4, 1328--1340 (1995; Zbl 0878.15006)]. The results are illustrated by a numerical example.
