The existence of common fixed points and invariant approximations for pointwise \(R\)-subweakly commuting and compatible maps is established. The first main result (Theorem 2.1) concerns the uniqueness of a common fixed point of maps \(I\) and \(T\) under a suitably generalized \(I\)-contraction property for \(T\). Two further results (Theorems 2.3 and 2.4) show the existence of common fixed points on a \(q\)-starshaped set, where \(q\) is a fixed point of \(T\), with \(I\) affine. The last theorem provides sufficient conditions for \(P_M(u)\cap \text{Fix}(T)\cap \text{Fix}(I)\neq \emptyset\), where \(u\in \text{Fix}(T)\cap \text{Fix}(I)\), \(M\) is a closed convex subset containing \(0\) in a normed space, and \(P_M(u)\) is the set of nearest points to \(u\) in \(M\).
