In Section 1, the author considers a chain \(\Gamma\) with the order relation \(\leq\). A matrix \(\| a_{ij}\|_{i,j\in\Gamma}\) over an associative ring \(K\) is called weakly finitary if it has finitely many nonzero elements in each row and column. These matrices form a ring. For an ideal \(J\) of \(K\), \(R_\Gamma(K,J)\) denotes the subring of matrices with \(a_{ij}\in J\) (\(i \leq j\)). Theorem 1 is about isomorphisms between \(R_\Gamma(K,0)\) for various \(K,\Gamma\). In Section 2, the author defines strongly maximal ideals. Theorem 2 asserts that when \(R\) is a commutative principal ideal domain with identity or a local ring, then every maximal ideal of \(R\) is strongly maximal. In Section 3, \(p\)-Sylow subgroups of Chevalley groups (including twisted ones) over a finite field \(K\) of characteristic \(p\) are studied.
