Equal-time pair correlation functions of quantum Ising and transverse Ising models stand among measurable quantities. Hence it is of interest to have them evaluated either exactly, or within suitable approximation regimes. In the present paper, a technique of coupled Toda-type nonlinear differential equations, derived in [Physica A 123, 1--49 (1984)], is employed to allow for efficient numerical calculations and comparison with newly derived long-time asymptotic expansions of pair correlators. The zero-temperature case is investigated, for which the initial conditions coincide with diagonal correlations in the two-dimensional Ising model. Elder results due to T. T. Wu, for the 2d Ising model are here-by extended.
