The authors give several constructions of families of elliptic curves, which have prescribed torsion group and positive rank over some number fields (of small degree). They also use twisted curves to produce larger ranks (over larger number fields). Furthermore, they give several arguments for improving ECM-factorization, which are supported by numerical data.
