The author extends recent results of G. Costakis and A. Manoussos on dynamical properties of the discrete dynamical system generated by the action of a bounded linear operator \(T\) on a Banach space \(X\). Notions of dynamical topology are recalled and different classes of operators are introduced using a ``localization'' of the notions of topological ergodicity and weak mixing. Then the paper presents several equivalence results between topological properties for the dynamical system generated by \(T\). As an example, let us quote one of them. Recall that a subset of \(\mathbb N\) is said to be syndetic if it has bounded gaps. For \(U, V \subset X\), let \(N_T(U,V)\) denote the set of integers \(n\) such that \(T^n U \cap V \not = \emptyset\). Let \[ J^{erg}(x):=\{y \in X: N_T(U,V) \text{ is syndetic for all }U, V \text{ neighborhoods, resp., of } x, y \text{ in } X\}. \] \(T\) is said to be a \(J^{erg}\)-class operator if there is a nonzero vector \(x \in X\) such that \(J^{erg}(x)= X\). Let \(T\) be a weighted backward shift operator on \(\ell^p(\mathbb N)\), \(1 \leq p < \infty\), i.e., \((Tx)_n = \omega_n x_{n+1}\) for all \(n \geq 1\), where \(\omega = (\omega_n)\) is a bounded nonnegative weight. Then the following properties are equivalent: (i) \(T\) is a \(J^{erg}\)-class operator; (ii) \(J^{erg}(0)= X\); (iii) \(T\) is topologically ergodic.
