The authors introduce in Section 2.1 parabolic Besov spaces \(B^\alpha_{p,q} (\mathbb R^d)\), \(\alpha \in \mathbb R\), \(1\leq p,q \leq \infty\), in terms of local means, and prove a wavelet expansion theorem. Section 2.2 deals with so-called regularity structures \((A,T,G)\), a generalized version of the classical polynomial regular structure (Whitney jets) consisting of \(A=\mathbb N\), whereas \(T\) is related to \(s\)-scaled polynomials, \(s= (s_1, \dots, s_d) \in \mathbb N^d\), and \(G\) is the translation group. The outcome (in the classical case) is the (anisotropic) Taylor polynomial approximation. Now \((A,T,G)\) is introduced in a more abstract way with the intention to replace the Taylor polynomials by abstract spaces \(D^\gamma_{p,q}\) that mimic the concrete Besov spaces in the framework of regular structures. This means, in particular, that the related definitions of \(D^\gamma_{p,q}\) (in two equivalent versions) are an abstract version of the Besov space definitions by ball means. One of the main results of the paper is Theorem 3.1 (reconstruction theorem) saying that there is a linear map of \(D^\gamma_{p,q}\) (in the framework of so-called modelled distributions) into concrete Besov spaces \(B^\alpha_{p,q}\). Section 4 deals with embedding theorems of the spaces \(D^\gamma_{p,q}\) which are similar to those for \(B^\alpha_{p,q}\).
