Let \((X, \ast)\) be a groupoid and \(Y\) be a Banach space. Let further \(A, B, C, D\) be fixed scalars and \(p, q, r, s\colon X \to X\) be arbitrary endomorphisms. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the stability problem of the following functional equation \[ Af\left(p(x)\ast r(y)\right)+Bf\left(q(x)\ast s(y)\right)= Cf(x)+Df(y) \qquad \left(x, y\in X\right), \] where \(f\colon X\to Y\) stands for the unknown function. Particular cases of this equation are the equation of the \(p\)-Wright affine functions, the additive Cauchy equation, the Jensen equation, the quadratic equation and the general linear equation (in two variables). Based on a result of the paper [the first author et al., Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl., Ser. A, Theory Methods 74, No. 17, 6728--6732 (2011; Zbl 1236.39022)], the authors prove their main result (see Theorem 2 of the paper), that asserts that under some conditions on the constants \(A, B, C\) and the endomorphisms \(p, q\), the above functional equation is stable in some sense. Finally, the authors also emphasize on the fact that in the case where \(X\) is a commutative group, we cannot deduce from Theorem 2 any suitable stability result for the quadratic functional equation.
