Well-posedness and nonlinear smoothing for the ``good'' Boussinesq equation on the half-line (Q2400588)

The paper addresses the well-posedness of the ``good'' Boussinesq equation in one dimension, defined on a semi-infinite line. A proof is reported for the local existence and uniqueness of the solution to the initial-value problem for this equation, with given boundary conditions at the edge of the semi-infinite domain. Continuous dependence on the initial data is proved too. The results are sharp, in the framework of the restricted norm method. It is also proved that the smoothness of the solution may exceed the smoothness of the initial data.
