A spine space is obtained from a projective Grassmannian by deleting a subspace. The authors show that in almost all cases it is possible to reconstruct the geometry of a spine space from one of the binary relations coplanarity of lines or coplanarity of intersecting lines, which at first glance appear to be much weaker notions.
