Let \(M\) be a compact oriented hyperbolic manifold of odd dimension \(d\). The Ruelle zeta function is associated with the geodesic flow on the unit sphere bundle of a smooth manifold of negative curvature defined by \(R(s):=\prod_\gamma(1-e^{-sL(\gamma)})\) where \(\gamma\) runs over the prime closed geodesics. One can twist this zeta function by a unitary representation of the fundamental group. The author uses the Selberg trace formula to establish the meromorphic continuation of the dynamical zeta function to all of \(\mathbb{C}\) and describe the singularities in terms of the spectrum of certain twisted Laplace and Dirac operators. The first section puts matters in context. The second section deals with odd dimensional hyperbolic manifolds, Haar measure, the principal series representation, the Casimir eigenvalue, and Plancherel measure. The third section discusses the twisted Selberg and Ruelle zeta functions in some detail. The twisted Bochner-Laplace operator is treated in the fourth section and homogeneous vector bundles and trace formulas are dealt with in the fifth section. The twisted Dirac operator is presented in the sixth section and appropriate trace formulas given. Meromorphic continuation is introduced in the seventh section. Resolvent identities, meromorphic continuation of the super zeta function, of the Selberg zeta function, of the symmetrized zeta function, and of the Ruelle zeta function are established.
