Two common fixed point results for hybrid pair of mappings (one single-valued and one multi-valued) in complete metric spaces are proved. The first is for occasionally coincidentally idempotent mappings satisfying a generalized $(F,\varphi)$-contraction condition via the CLR (common limit range) property and the other uses a rational-type Hardy-Rogers $(F,\varphi)$-contraction condition. The results are illustrated by an example. Two applications are presented: one to a problem in dynamic programming and the other to a Volterra integral inclusion.
