Let \(M\) be a smooth connected geodesically complete Riemannian \(n\)-manifold without boundary with a Hermitian vector bundle \(\mathcal V\) over \(M\), equipped with a metric covariant derivative \(\nabla\). The authors studies operator \(H := \nabla^{\dagger}\nabla+\nabla_X+V\), where \(\nabla^{\dagger}\) is the formal adjoint of \(\nabla\), the symbol \(\nabla_X\) stands for the action of \(\nabla\) along a smooth vector field \(X\) on \(M\), and \(V\) is a locally bounded section of the endomorphism bundle \(\mathrm{End}\ {\mathcal V}\). \(V\) and \(X\) may be unbounded, but some upper bound for \(|X|_{T_x M}\) and lower bound for \(V(x)-p^{-1} (\mathrm{div} X)(x)\) are assumed. It is proved that the closure \(\overline{H|_{C^\infty_c}({\mathcal V})}\) of \(H|_{C^\infty_c}({\mathcal V})\) in \(L^p({\mathcal V})\), \(1 < p < \infty\) is a maximal accretive operator and \(\overline{H|_{C^\infty_c}({\mathcal V})}\) coincides with the ``maximal'' realization of \(H\) in \(L^p({\mathcal V})\).
