This paper is devoted to certain subsets of \([0,1)\) whose elements represented in terms of the \(\beta\)-expansion. For any \(\beta>1\), \(x\in [0,1)\), and \(n\ge 1\), the run-length function \(r_n(x,\beta)\) is defined, i.e., the function is the maximal length of consecutive zeros amongst the first n digits of the \(\beta\)-expansion of \(x\in [0,1)\). For the non-empty set \[ E_{a,b}=\left\{x\in[0,1): \liminf_{n\to\infty}{\frac{r_{n}(x,\beta)}{n}}=a, \limsup_{n\to\infty}{\frac{r_{n}(x,\beta)}{n}}=b \right\}, \] the Hausdorff dimension is calculated. It is proved that the set \(E_{0,1}\) is residual in \([0, 1]\). The run-length function \(r_n(\beta)\) is considered. The Hausdorff dimension of the non-empty set \[ E^{P} _{a,b}=\left\{\beta\in(1,2): \liminf_{n\to\infty}{\frac{r_{n}(\beta)}{n}}=a, \limsup_{n\to\infty}{\frac{r_{n}(\beta)}{n}}=b \right\} \] is calculated. The Lebesgue measure of \(E^P _{0,0}\) is established. It is shown that the set \(E^P _{0,1}\) is residual in \([1, 2]\). Several corollaries and auxiliary results are proved. Brief surveys on certain facts on the \(\beta\)-expansions and on some classical results of the \(\beta\)-expansion in the parameter space, are given.
