One starts with the investigation of solvability and blow up of solutions to the following Cauchy problem with small initial data for the semilinear wave equation \[ \Box u=|\partial _tu|^p+|u|1^q, (u,\partial_tu)|_{t=0}=\epsilon(f(x),g(x)),\text{ for }p>1, q>1, x\in \mathbb{R}^n. \] In three dimensions, if \(q\) equals the Strauss critical power \(q=q_c(3)\) and \(p\geq q\), sufficient conditions for the existence of a unique solutions are shown and an estimate for the lifespan is computed. In two-dimensional space and for \(q=q_c(2)\), \(p\geq q\), a similar existence result for small data is proved. In this case a light improvement of the lower bound for the lifespan is obtained. The study concentrates further to an initial value problem with small data for a system of semilinear wave equations: \(\Box u=|v|^q\), \(\Box v=|\partial _tu|^p\) \(u,\partial_tu)|_{t=0}=\epsilon(f(x),g(x))\), \((v,\partial_tv)|_{t=0}=\epsilon(\tilde{f}(x),\tilde{g}(x))\). In the three-dimensional space sufficient conditions for the existence of a global solution are proved. Conditions for nonexistence of global weak solutions are shown.
