It is well known that the group of diffeomorphisms \(\mathrm{Diff}(K)\) of a compact manifold \(K\) is an infinite-dimensional Lie group that is modeled on the Frechet space \(C^\infty(K,TK)\) of smooth vector fields on \(K\) and has the Lie algebra \(C^\infty(K,TK)\) as its Lie algebra. For a non-compact smooth manifold \(M\), it is not possible to make \(\mathrm{Diff}(M)\) a Lie group modelled on the space of all smooth vector fields in a satisfying way. Usually, the group \(\mathrm{Diff}_c(M)\) of diffeomorphisms with compact support is considered, and the space \(C_c^\infty (M,TM)\) of compactly supported smooth vector fields is considered as the modeling space. It is natural to look for Lie groups of diffeomorphisms which are larger than \(\mathrm{Diff}_c(M)\) and modelled on larger Lie algebras of vector fields than \(C_c^\infty (M,TM)\). In this paper, the author defines locally convex vector spaces of weighted vector fields and use them as model spaces for Lie groups of weighted diffeomorphisms on Riemannian manifolds. The author proves an easy condition on the weights that ensures that these groups contain the compactly supported diffeomorphisms. Finally, it is shown that for the special case where the manifold is the Euclidean space, these Lie groups coincide with the ones constructed in the author's earlier work [Diss. Math. 484, 126 p. (2012; Zbl 1252.58007)].
