In the paper under review, the authors present an analog of S.\,S.\,Chern's conjecture for affine orbifolds, which states that the Euler-Satake characteristic of a compact affine orbifold must be zero. They also generalize \textit{B. Klingler}'s [Ann. Math. (2) 186, No. 1, 69--95 (2017; Zbl 1379.57036)] and \textit{B. Kostant} and \textit{D. Sullivan}'s [Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 81, 937--938 (1975; Zbl 0313.57009)] results on Chern's conjecture to affine orbifolds. Moreover, several examples are constructed to show that there are no direct analogs of Chern's conjecture for topological Euler characteristic or orbifold Euler characteristic.
