The \(\Gamma\)-Euler-Satake characteristics of a general orbifold presented by an orbifold groupoid are introduced, extending to orbifolds that are not global quotients the generalized orbifold Euler characteristics of \textit{J. Bryan} and \textit{J. Fulman} [Ann. Comb. 2, No.~1, 1--6 (1998; Zbl 0921.55003)] and \textit{H. Tamanoi} [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 1, 115--141 (2001; Zbl 0965.57033) and 3, 791--856 (2003; Zbl 1037.57022)]. These are defined as the Euler-Satake characteristics of the space of \(\Gamma\)--sectors of the orbifold, where \(\Gamma\) is a finitely generated discrete group. The behavior of these characteristics under product operations applied to \(\Gamma\) as well as the orbifold are also studied and their relationship to existing Euler characteristics for orbifolds are established. As an application, some known formulas valid for the Euler characteristics and Hodge numbers of wreath symmetric products of global quotient orbifolds are generalized to the case of quotients by compact connected Lie groups acting locally freely.
