Inspired by function-module representations of a Banach space, the authors propose the notion of a representable Banach space. They prove that such spaces have the Daugavet property [cf.\ \textit{V. M. Kadets, R. V. Shvidkoy, G. G. Sirotkin} and \textit{D. Werner}, Trans.\ Am.\ Math.\ Soc.\ 352, No. 2, 855--873 (2000; Zbl 0938.46016)] and give examples of representable Banach spaces, including various spaces of vector-valued functions and operators. They also exhibit stability theorems for the Daugavet property in the class of representable spaces that are generally not valid; for example, if \(X\) is representable, then for every Banach space \(Y\) the completed injective tensor product \(X \widehat\otimes_\varepsilon Y\) is representable as well and hence has the Daugavet property.
