Given a ring \(A\) and two finitely generated modules \(M\) and \(N\), the cohomological symmetry for the pair of \((M,N)\) means that \(\mathrm{Ext}^n_A(M,N)=0\) for all \(n\gg 0\) if and only if \(\mathrm{Ext}^n_A(M,N)=0\) for all \(n\gg 0\). The paper first studies the cohomological symmetry in a triangulated category and then applies the result to modules over algebras. In particular, the paper proves that cohomological symmetry holds for all pairs of modules over any exterior algebra. Partial results on the cohomological symmetry over exterior algebras were obtained by \textit{I. Mori} [J. Algebra 310, No. 2, 708--729 (2007; Zbl 1134.16003)].
