Let \(W^{1,p}([0,1]^N,\mathbb{R}^N)\) denote the space of all \(p\)-integrable mappings of \([0,1]^N\) into \(\mathbb{R}^N\) whose coordinate functions have \(p\)-integrable distributional derivatives, and \(J_f(x)\) be the Jacobian of a mapping \(f\). It is shown that, in contrast to the case \(p=N\) where there may be no homeomorphism in \(W^{1,p}([0,1]^N,\mathbb{R}^N)\) with \(J_f(x)=0\) almost everywhere, in the case \(1\leq p<N\), such a homeomorphism does exist.
