Continuation and bifurcations of breathers in a finite discrete NLS equation (Q2430207)

The authors present results on the continuation of breathers in the discrete cubic nonlinear Schrödinger (DNLS) equation in a finite one-dimensional lattice with Dirichlet boundary conditions. After the description of the reduced phase for the finite DNLS the general results are presented on breathers, consisting in the continuation of symmetric and antisymmetric breathers and their bifurcations. Here the reduced phase space is used to study bifurcations of breathers in small lattices. In conclusion numerical results are given on the continuation and bifurcation of symmetric and antisymmetric breathers in large lattices.
