The paper analyzes the exceptional surgeries on a hyperbolic \(3\)-manifold with torus boundary in the case when one Dehn filling is a lens space and another one is toroidal. The author proves that the distance (the minimal geometric intersection number) between two slopes on the torus boundary giving these respective Dehn fillings is at most \(4\). This is a sharpening of the bound equal to \(5\) obtained by \textit{C.McA. Gordon} [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 125, No.~3, 433--440 (1999; Zbl 0926.57014)]. The author also proves that the same conclusion holds in the case when the filling along one slope is a lens space and the other one contains a Klein bottle.
