This paper is devoted to the investigation of a system of differential equations with one parameter perturbation such that its right hand side is discontinuous. The unperturbed system is supposed to have at least either one periodic orbit or a limit cycle. The authors establish the continuation of the periodic orbits under perturbation by means of the bifurcation map and the zeros of this map imply the existence of periodic orbits for the perturbed system. The main tools for this problem are jumps of fundamental matrix solutions and the Poincaré map for discontinuous systems. Moreover, some applications to discontinuous linear oscillation and Van der Pol equation with discontinuous damping are considered.
