On a conformal invariant of the Dirac operator on noncompact manifolds (Q2431743)

In his Habilitation (Hamburg, 2003), using the conformal Laplacian on closed spin manifolds, \textit{B. Ammann} studied a conformal invariant that is an analog to the Yamabe number. In the present work the author is concerned with studying the analogous situation for the Dirac operator on non-compact spin manifolds. It is shown that, as in the compact case, this invariant is bounded by the corresponding invariant on the sphere. Moreover, it is shown that this invariant leads to an obstruction of the conformal compactification of complete noncompact manifolds.
