\textit{H. Hauser} [Bull. Am. Math. Soc., New Ser. 47, No. 1, 1--3 (2010; Zbl 1185.14011)] introduced hybrid polynomials in connection with the obstructions to the resolution of singularities in positive characteristic. In this paper the authors study the Igusa local zeta function associated to hybrid polynomials in three variables defined over a non-Archimedean local field of positive characteristic. They prove that it is a rational function. Furthermore with the aid of the stationary phase formula they are able to give a list of candidates of poles reduced to just three elements. To conclude, they consider an exponential sum associated to an hybrid polynomial and provide a closed formula for it based on the partial fractions structure of the zeta function.
